18 TYPES OF ASIAN GIRLS

Something that I find it kinda amusing.
Perhaps it's one of the ways to understand Asian girls :P

University Orientation, Challenge Day

When I get bored or stressed up, I will search for any old pictures in my computer.
AND I found something interesting...

MY ORIENTATIONS PICTURES!!!!!!

I couldn't imagine myself finishing my first year so fast in Cardiff. Thinking of those days me being a baby and immature kiddo. What I could agree is it was definitely a great exposure to study overseas.Without helicopter parents beside you, you will need to be independent.

YES, I MEANT REAL INDEPENDENT or should I say FREEDOM? *giggles

I was shocked to see our orientation happen in a bar and club. Perhaps it is a common thing to do in Caucasian countries but not MALAYSIA! I was kinda excited and nervous to participate the orientation. I knew there would be Malaysians in my course and pretty sure I would just stick to them! Well, I do told myself not to.

I always reminded myself what is the purpose of choosing to study in Cardiff. TO GET EXPOSED TO DIFFERENT CULTURE is part of my reason. I got full scholarship to study in Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Optometry and rejected it because I want to experience what they say "culture shock". So what's the point of my rejection if I am overly attached to Malaysian friends.

I remembered our orientation started off with few boring lectures (standard procedure) introducing you the school and bla. What I want to share here is an event called Challenge Day during my orientation. We were formed into groups randomly. Basically we were given a list of challenges to complete. The fastest group to finish is the winner. In order to proof that we finished the task, a picture should be taken. That is why I have these amusing pictures!

Task: Drinking Competition
All I could say poor Owen (right guys sitting down) who was the only guy in our group was forced to participate the drinking competition. The one who finished the fastest is the winner. I still remember poor Owen forcing himself to drink with great speed.

Task: Fit as many people you can in a telephone booth.
This task is kinda crazy. I think we managed to fit 9 people in the telephone booth. The reason I am in because I am kind of petite among others. lol
Task: Take picture in front of the Optical shops
Our first group picture in front of Vision Express! I could say our group is quite international. We have the ones from Cyprus, Spain, Britain, Singapore and of course Malaysia! :) Okay, ignore our awkward gaps..lol

Task: Find faggots and eat them.
YES FAGGOTS. THIS IS FAGGOTS. I AM EATING FAGGOTS. Not the ones that you're thinking ;)

FYI,

Faggot is traditionally made from pig's heart, liver and fatty belly meat or bacon minced together. It's a traditional dish in Britain.

Task: Propose in public
Surprisingly this lady was a Cardiff Alumni who studied Optometry as well! And her husband is one of our optometry lecturers in Cardiff University! She was really friendly and cheeky!

Task: Hug a guy with a super long beard
I think I would be insane in Malaysia if you request someone a hug publicly. We randomly found a guy with a long beard while we were carrying our task.

Another picture taken in front of the optical shop
Just realised that I am the shortest among all. OKAY, ignore me..nothing special

Task: Find a cool place to do plank.
I kind of like this picture. haha. We eventually find some place which is quiet enough to do plank. I think everyone in our group are kinda *shy*

The world's smallest spoon! and Yes we found it :)

The world's largest spoon!
Our next task is to find the world's smallest and largest spoon. So it was inside a welsh souvenir shop. We managed to finish the task and got first- runner up. Unfortunately, NO PRIZE GIVEN!!! Anyway, the point is here I guess is the process but not the prize :)
But having prizes would be more encouraging *joking :P

So this is it! These are few pictures that I can share. At night we had "Buddies night" in Tiger-Tiger Nightclub Cardiff. For some reasons, I didn't manage to go and I kind of regretted it. Anyway, stane tune to my blog for more "interesting" things about my life! OKAY, PROBABLY IT'S NOT SO INTERESTING TO YOU....

FYI, I haven't share these pictures in any social media before. So here's my first go!
Hope you guys enjoy!

Love,
Yan.

Quote of the Day 23/7/14

I came across reading one of the quotes cited by a blogger and I find it quite meaningful to me.

"Live with the pain of discipline, not the pain of regret." - Hans Florine

YEAH. I really need that motivation for what I am doing now.

Hope everyone have a nice midweek :)

Coventry, England

I have a grandaunt who lives in Coventry. Believe it or not, I haven't met her before in my life till this winter break. I paid a visit to her place. It's a 4 hours plus journey by bus.

If you ever wonder where is Coventry, it is one of the busiest city in England. University of Warwick is in Coventry! For those who watched Hong Kong drama, Triumph in the Skies II, perhaps they will know that the casts did filming at Coventry.
The surroundings of the residence area.
Nothing special. It's just me first taking a public bus in England.
She was also kind enough to bring me to tour around Coventry.  I am quite excited as I think it was my first trip out of Cardiff. So what's next...Camera is up of course!

Whittle Arch
There's a saying that if you see Whittle Arch, people know that you're in Coventry.

Okay, here's a nerd look of me...
Coventry Pool Meadow Bus Station
Believe it or not, my grandaunt who is currently 70 years old took this picture for me. Imagine an old lady having herself holding such a high tech camera helping you to take this picture! I didn't expect much but the results turned out to be great! When my friends saw my solos pictures, they would tease me about bullying my grandaunt! Anyway, my grandaunt and I did burst out some laughters whenever the solo pictures were taken.

Walking our way to the city centre.
Coventry Cathedral since 1918
Due to some reasons, I did not enter the Coventry Cathedral. It is said to be a very interesting historical place.

The magnificent night view of Coventry City Centre. Well I shouldn't say it is night. Probably is just about 5 in the afternoon. The sky gets dark quickly during winter time.

A typical Asian pose. Peace sign :P
Statue of Lady Godiva
If I had known this statue earlier, I would have taken a closer picture with it
Everyone is preparing for Christmas! You can see the crowds holding big and small shopping bags!

Another tourist attraction is this Coventry Transport Museum! Perhaps you can give it a visit!

Finally, my own selfie during my trip! Jeez, I look so young that time...

Overall, I think Coventry is much complicated as compared to Cardiff. No offence, I prefer to live in Cardiff as I can see much more greenness in my surroundings. To me, Coventry is not as convenient as Cardiff. For instance, I need to take a bus whenever I go to any places in Coventry. In Cardiff, I could just walk to the city centre or any places I want because everything is near and compact together. Another reason might be Coventry is larger than Cardiff so public transport is needed.

By this blog post, I wanted to share my gratefulness with my grandaunt by taking care of me so well during my trip.  Probably you would be wondering how my grandaunt looks like. However, she doesn't like her face being posted on any public social media so I would respect her privacy. Anyway, I do have a great time in Coventry. It's great to have family bonding with my grandaunt who I had never met before.

PHOTOSHOOT in Putrajaya

I am missing my photo-shoot moments with my beloved cousin. Thanks to her I got this superbly nice pictures before I leave to UK for my studies.

Below are some of my favourites to share.

These pictures are taken at Putrajaya. I could say there are many nice places in Putrajaya to photo shoot. I had seen many couples shooting weeding photos there. Thanks to my uncle as he is being our photographer that day! It is one of my wonderful experiences! I can't wait to have another photo shoot session.

Link to follow my cousin's blog.

Four Seasons Hotel, Limassol Cyprus

Review

Vista Bar & Terrance

During my visit to Cyprus, I had visited Four Seasons Hotel at Limassol Cyprus. I was told by my friend that Vista Terrance which is one the hotel bars serve the best ice-cream in Limassol. I couldn't wait to try it!

The surroundings of Vista Terrance Bar
The furniture used and the surrounding design is a bit of like Thailand or Bali beach style. I like this place as we can have a good view of the Mediterranean sea meanwhile enjoying our ice-cream.

The view from where I sit. I didn't manage to take some sort of professional picture. Anyway just want to say that you can have a casual chat with your friend here while enjoying the sea breeze.

The BEST part comes now! THE ICE-CREAM! We ordered Summer Refresh, Yogurt Forest Fruits and Caramel Lovers.

The ice-creams are well decorated. These ice-creams are also specially made by their bar. I was amazed by the size of the ice-cream. I think this was the largest ice-cream I ever seen in my life.

I CAN SAY THIS IS HEAVEN!!!

Some close up views of these ice-creams.

Summer Refresh, it's all about fruits. A combination of strawberries, Raspberries and vanilla which gives a refreshing feel.

For Caramel and chocolate lovers, you should try this!

I think this is the best one among all. If you like Yogurt ice-cream, you should give this a try. It has the largest portion among all.

The kids ice-cream!

This picture is just for you to see and compare the size if the ice-cream. If you can compare it with my hand and face. Imagine how big this ice-cream is!
As we had our ice-cream, the sky began to go dark. I am amazed by the lightning on our eating area!

Meanwhile, I will also show you the surroundings of Four Seasons Hotel.

The Lobby

The swimming pool

Walking further down you will reach the beach. Here you can have a nice sea view and enjoy the sound of the tides.

Night sea view
